Construction Equipment Guide

Case Construction Equipment offers a full range of hydraulic-powered attachments for its versatile Alpha Series skid steers and compact track loaders. And due to the company’s high-flow and enhanced high-flow hydraulic system options, contractors can find a wide variety of Case attachments.

“Standard flow is adequate for basic cylinder-operated attachments such as grapples, 4-in-1 buckets and powered attachments like sweepers, brooms, rotary rakes and basic snow blowers,” said Perry Girard, marketing manager, parts and service, Case Construction Equipment. “Attachments such as asphalt cold planers, chippers, mulchers, stump grinders and rock saws need the extra power that our high-flow and enhanced high-flow systems provide.”

Following are brief overviews of some Case attachments that take advantage of the extra hydraulic power available in the company’s optional higher flow systems:

Chippers

Cut big jobs down to size. Chip brush and limbs from tree trimming, land clearing or storm damage clean up. The Case chipper has two mounts, so it can be set to feed in front or to the curb side. A four-position manual valve controls the hydraulic feed roller with in?nitely variable feed roll speed. A built-in hydraulic jack makes feed roller maintenance quick and easy.

Two chipper models are available. The Case 74500, with a feed opening size of 5.5 by 7 in. (14 by 18 cm) and a 20- by 1.25-in. (51- by 3-cm) chipper disc, can be supported by standard hydraulic flow. It weighs 1,145 lb. (519 kg). The Case 74800 chipper is a high-flow hydraulic model, with a feed opening of 9 by 9 in. (23 by 23 cm) and a 30- by 1.25-in. (76- by 3-cm) chipper disc. It weighs 1,525 lb. (692 kg).

Stump Grinders

Case stump grinders work to 12 in. (30.5 cm) below ground level. Each includes a skid steer mounting bracket, wire harness to the boom electrical connector, hoses and hydraulic couplers. The unit has a 60-degree range of motion and can cover 45 in. (114 cm) in a single sweep. Chips are thrown away from the loader to protect the operator, who may control the grinder from inside the cab via a multi-function control kit. Case stump grinders feature a hydraulic braking action on the grinding wheel for faster shutdown. An offset-mount swing arm provides added visibility to the stump while grinding.

Two models are available. The Case SG26 stump grinder, with a cutting diameter of 29 in. (74 cm), is designed for standard flow hydraulic power. The Case SG30 stump grinder, with a cutting diameter of 33 in. (84 cm), requires high-flow hydraulic power. Both models feature an overall length of 84 in. (213 cm), overall width of 58 in. (147 cm) and overall height of 37 in. (94 cm).

Cold Planers

Case offers five high-flow asphalt cold planer attachment models for its Alpha Series skid steers. They are available in cutting widths of 16, 18, 24, 30 and 40 in. (41, 46, 61, 76 and 102 cm). Each model has a cutting depth of 0 to 5 in. (0 to 13 cm), with depth and tilt position indicators. Each high-flow cold planer features an independent pivoting head for better contour tracking, 8-degree tilt, and 0 to 19 in. (0 to 48 cm) center-to-right sideshift. Optional slot-cutting drums are available in widths of 2.5, 4 and 6 in. (6, 10 and 15 cm). Water nozzle kits for dust control also are available.

Rock Saws

Case offers 18- and 24-in. (46- and 61-cm) hydraulic-powered rock saw attachments for the Case Alpha Series skid steer and compact track loader lines. They are designed for cutting slots for gas, sewer, water, electrical and cable TV installation and repair, cutting asphalt for patch repairs and cutting expansion joints in roadways.

Case rock saws are fully hydraulic with in-cab controls and feature electro-hydraulic control for depth and sideshift, dual side discharge of material and a standard pick-removal tool. A 40-gal. (151 L) pressurized water kit is available. The 18-in. model has a cutting depth of 0 to 18 in. (0 to 46 cm). The 24-in. model has a cutting depth of 0 to 24 in. (0 to 61 cm). Both models have a cutting width of 2.5 to 4 in. (6 to 10 cm).
