Construction Equipment Guide

Case Construction Equipment is a premier sponsor of the 19th Annual National Gas Rodeo. Since 2007, Case has been the exclusive provider of backhoes/loader and compact excavators for the event, which showcases preferred safety practices and efficient use of equipment in natural gas installations.

The competition will be held Sept. 15 in Fairview Heights, Ill. Two- and four-person teams made up of elite utility crews from across the United States will compete in a variety of skill events focused on safe, time-efficient performance, using construction equipment and other tools of the trade. The annual event has grown to include more than 30 teams and more than 400 spectators.

“Case loader/backhoes and compact excavators are integral for utility and infrastructure projects across the United States, so we are returning for our third year to be the exclusive provider of loader/backhoes and compact excavators for this legendary rodeo competition,” said Katie Pullen, Case brand marketing manager. “This is a great opportunity to get the best operators in the utility and gas industry behind the controls of Case loader/backhoes and compact excavators.”

The Midwest Energy Association produces the National Gas Rodeo, with the support of the American Gas Association, the American Public Gas Association and the Southern Gas Association.

Power and precision for underground work

“Case loader/backhoes and compact excavators dig deep, move heavy materials, leave a light footprint and provide precise underground operation,” Pullen said.

Case N Series loader/backhoes deliver enhanced backhoe breakout force, greater loader lift capacity/reach and cab comfort. Recent upgrades to these machines include the application of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) emissions-control technology to achieve Tier IV Interim certification, as well as important improvements in performance, productivity and maintainability. With as much as 25 percent greater backhoe lift power, the four Case N Series backhoe/loaders can handle extreme conditions with ease, such as breaking through frost lines, dry clay or roots, according to the manufacturer.

The cab keeps operators more productive with floor-to-ceiling windows and a high-intensity lighting package with “easy flex” side lights to deliver extra lighting where it’s needed most.

Case CXB Series compact excavators deliver power, productivity and fast cycle times in all applications. Regardless of space constraints, Case compact excavators are able to perform utility, landscaping, demolition, construction or industrial jobs that require strength without a giant footprint. The independent, center-swing boom allows operators to dig around stationary objects or alongside obstacles. A two-way backfill blade is standard on all five Case CXB Series machines, improving stability and productivity.
