Employees of Racine-based Case Construction Equipment Inc. joined Mayor Gary Becker in raising the walls on a Habitat for Humanity home on Lincoln Street in Racine June 19.

At the event, Case President Jim McCullough presented a check for $26,000 to Racine Habitat for Humanity. The gift included a corporate contribution, along with more than $20,000 raised by Case and CNH employees who participated in dozens of fundraising activities since January.

To begin construction of the Racine home, Case supplied one of its excavators to dig the foundation for the home. More than 200 Case and CNH employees participated in the building of the new Habitat home during the week of June 19.

“As a manufacturer of equipment used in the building of homes, businesses and infrastructure, Case is very pleased to be here,” said McCullough. “We’re glad to provide both a dollar gift and a team of employees volunteering their time and hard work.”

“We are grateful to Case and CNH employees for their generous gift, for the volunteers who will be here during the next several days, and the use of Case equipment to help us build this house,” said Jan Roland, board president, Racine Habitat for Humanity.

“This home, the 54th built by Racine Habitat for Humanity, will be sold at cost to a low-income family after they have invested at least 300 hours of sweat equity in the project. We could not do this work without support from area businesses and their employees.”

Mayor Becker noted that Case has been a part of the Racine community for more than 165 years.

“On behalf of the people of Racine, I’d like to thank Case and CNH for their continuing commitment to bettering our community through participation in excellent causes like Racine Habitat for Humanity,” Becker said.

McCullough said that Case Construction Equipment’s affiliation with Habitat extends far beyond Racine.

Case Rodeo Series events provide dollars and volunteers to local Habitat affiliates across North America.

Before the end of the year, more than 80 Case dealership locations in the United States and Canada will have hosted backhoe loader rodeos, where skilled operators compete for cash and a trip for two to Las Vegas. The top competitor from each local market will have the opportunity to compete in March 2008 for the title of Case North American Rodeo Series Champion and a fully loaded Case loader/backhoe valued at nearly $120,000.

In conjunction with Case Rodeo Series events being held at Case dealerships across North America through year-end, Case and its dealers will make an aggregate contribution to local Habitat for Humanity affiliates across North America that may top $150,000.

The Case Rodeo Series events also are providing partnership opportunities with Habitat for Humanity, with each participating Case dealership contributing a minimum of $1,000 and providing its local Habitat for Humanity affiliate with the opportunity to participate in the events, not only to accept donations for the cause, but also to generate awareness and recruit volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates homes and sells them at no profit, and with zero-percent-interest mortgages, to low-income, first-time home buyers. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.
