The city of Tuscon recently awarded Caterpillar a five-year cooperative contract to serve as the city's supplier for heavy equipment, parts and other related services.

Serving as the lead agency of the National IPA for this procurement, the City of Tucson, Ariz., recently solicited a competitive bid for heavy construction equipment, parts, accessories, supplies and related services from industry manufacturers. The City of Tucson, in conjunction with the National IPA, awarded Caterpillar the contract, #161534, which remains effective from May 1, 2017 through April 30, 2022 (initial one-year contract with four one-year renewals).

This national cooperative contract award was presented and evaluated based upon bid responsiveness, product quality, customer service and the ability to carry out a nationwide contract-selling program. Through the national cooperative agreement, all Cat machines, including motor graders and backhoes, technology, and related services will now be made available not only to the City of Tucson but any government agency or educational institution throughout the country associated with the National IPA.

“We are incredibly proud and honored to be selected as having the equipment solution offering the best overall lifecycle value for the City of Tucson,” says Ann Schreifels, Governmental Sales Manager for Caterpillar. “Through the National IPA, other governmental buyers throughout the United States will have a means to procure state-of-the-art Cat equipment and technology knowing the bid process has been satisfied and confident it offers them the best value for their purchases. They will also receive unparalleled service and industry-leading customer support from the extensive Cat dealer network.”
