The Public Works Association of New Jersey held its monthly regional meeting July 10 in Warren Township, where members convened to discuss industry matters and hold training sessions.
Representatives from CC&T and Pavement Recyclers LLC were on hand for this particular meeting to demonstrate the Bagela BA10000 recycler, a machine that transforms old raw materials into reusable blacktop asphalt for road paving and patchwork jobs. A quick demonstration (with next to no set up time) impressed the crowd of approximately 70 people, who traveled from various parts of New Jersey to attend the meeting and see the BA10000 in action.
"We took materials from Warren Township — a bunch of chunk asphalt and a bunch of millings, and ran it through the asphalt recycler with no special mix," said Greg Harla, sales and marketing director of Pavement Recyclers. "The machine then turned it back into hot mix asphalt and we laid it down and rolled it out."
For those in attendance, the demonstration from CC&T and Pavement Recyclers was the highlight of the afternoon.
"The demonstration actually went better than I thought," said Douglas Buro, superintendent of public works of Warren Township and state president of the Public Works Association of New Jersey. "The people I talked to were actually very surprised at the quality of the material that came out. I was surprised as well with the final product."
Many in attendance were seeing the Bagela BA10000 in action for the first time.
"The biggest challenge we have, as a dealer, is getting this machine known to the public," said CC&T's Vice President of Sales Sean Collins. "We call it the best kept secret around, and we wanted to display what it can do."
Bagela's BA Series recycles existing RAP, chunks or millings into reusable hot mix asphalt. The material is loaded into the recycler and is indirectly heated, never coming in contact with any flame. This ensures that the asphalt is always discharged at an even temperature, every time. It generates hot mix for use anytime, anywhere — especially helpful when the plant is closed, or too far away.
The company manufactures three models in the BA Series — the BA4000 (capable of producing 4 tons per hour), BA7000 (7 tons per hour), and the BA10000 (10-plus tons per hour). Each model consumes approximately one gallon of fuel per ton and are all environmentally friendly machines.
