The G.W. Van Keppel Company, a long-established aggregate, construction and material handling equipment provider, has signed on as the authorized Champion dealer for the states of Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. The partnership took effect on Sept. 1, said Woody Ferrell, vice president sales and marketing of Champion Motor Graders.

“Woody Ferrell brings a new aggressiveness for Champion in the marketplace and the new dimension he brings to the line is probably the major reason why we have chosen to become an official Champion dealer at this time,” said Kevin Kientz, G.W. Van Keppel executive vice president. “That, and of course, the quality motor graders that Champion brings to the market.”

A family-owned company in its third generation, The G.W. Van Keppel Company was founded by its namesake in 1926.

The company provides new and used equipment sales and rentals and features a comprehensive inventory of parts and a full service department. The company remains committed to the words of its founder: “Our only reason for existing is to provide service to our customers.”

Champion is a great complement to existing product lines. In addition to its Champion and Volvo Construction Equipment lines, Van Keppel carries JCI, Eagle and Kolberg-Pioneer crushing and screening equipment and Superior conveying equipment.

According to Kientz, the company’s new Champion motorgraders will complement its existing product lines nicely and open new markets with paving contractors, governmental markets, and general contractors.

“Up to now, we’ve been able to serve these customers with our paving equipment and rollers, but now we’ll be able to offer them one-stop shopping,” Kientz said.

Kientz indicated that Van Keppel’s reputation, capability and commitment to service and being responsive to its customers’ needs are the company’s major strengths and competitive advantages and should serve the company well as it begins marketing the Champion line of compact motorgraders. Marketing plans include publication and direct mailings to targeted markets, factory and rental demonstrations and a sales force of more than 25 on-the-ground in the states of Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri, the three states in which Van Keppel will be representing Champion.

Van Keppel will stock Champion’s recommended stock list of replacement parts and include the Champion C80 C and C86 C all wheel drive series motorgraders in its inventory.

“These particular models appear to fit our market the best in terms of their size and capabilities. They are the right-size machines for many of our customers,” said Kientz.

Woody Ferrell indicated that he was pleased that The G.W. Van Keppel Company came onboard, “We too are a family-owned operation and share the same values of customer service and satisfaction as they do.”

“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to represent the Champion product line in our territory,” Kientz said. “Many of our personnel have experience with the line and they’re excited to be promoting the product.”
