Bucket Trucks Specs and Charts

Often referred to as “cherry picker” trucks, bucket/boom trucks — also called aerial work platforms (AWP), elevating work platforms (EWP), or mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP) — are vehicles with an extendable boom mounted to the bed or roof that are used to provide temporary access to inaccessible areas. Often used by construction and maintenance workers, they also are deployed by firefighters for emergency access and phone and cable companies to reach high wires. Designed to lift limited weight limits — they typically have a lifting capacity of 350 to 1,500 pounds — they can usually be set up and run by one person. Construction Equipment Guide’s website has links to used bucket/boom trucks for sale from an assortment of manufacturers, including Duralift, Lift-All, Manitex, Terex and Volvo.
