The city of Odessa, Mo., proclaimed March 12 “Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Day” at the grand opening of the company’s new permanent Kansas City auction site in Odessa. Mayor Anthony Bamvakais made the proclamation before cutting the grand opening ribbon to officially open the new site — one of 38 Ritchie Bros. auction sites around the world.
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers celebrated the grand opening of its Kansas City auction site during a one-day unreserved industrial auction. Approximately 840 construction, transportation and industrial equipment items were sold to the highest bidders at the multi-million dollar public auction, which attracted more than 1,200 registered bidders from 25 countries, including 44 U.S. states and eight Canadian provinces.
“I would like to extend a warm welcome to Ritchie Bros. on behalf of the citizens of the city of Odessa, Lafayette County and the state of Missouri,” said Mayor Bamvakais. “We are thrilled to have Ritchie Bros. here today and we appreciate them choosing Odessa as the location for their new auction site. … I would like to call upon all citizens to recognize and thank Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers for investing in the future growth of the city of Odessa, Missouri.”
Jesse Cantin, Ritchie Bros. regional manager, said, “I would like to thank the city of Odessa and Lafayette County for welcoming us with open arms and for supporting us during the development of this new site. This is an excellent location for Ritchie Bros. — and for our customers. We’re close to transportation routes, right on I-70 in the heart of the Mid-Central region, with easy access to hotels and other services.”
The new 40-acre Odessa auction site features a 33,000-sq.-ft. auction building with seating for more than 600 people in a heated auction theater, as well as an on-site refurbishing facility where equipment can be cleaned, repaired and painted before it is sold.
“We’ve welcomed thousands of equipment buyers and sellers to our Kansas City auctions over the years, and we’re excited that we can now offer our valuable customers in the region the benefits of a full-service, permanent auction site,” said Nick Nicholson, Ritchie Bros. senior vice president. “At Ritchie Bros. we pride ourselves on creating a global marketplace for our customers. We’ve got people from as far away as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France and Australia bidding at today’s auction, helping our customers in the Mid-Central region sell their equipment for its global fair market value.”
