Construction Machinery Industrial LLC (CMI), a leading construction equipment dealer in Alaska, has expanded its business by becoming a Mack Trucks Inc. full-service dealer. CMI now offers Mack sales, parts and service in its Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau and Ketchikan locations.

The complete Mack product line offered to customers in the state is particularly well suited for the mining operations, civil contractors and other construction industries that CMI has historically served, according to the company.

The Mack Granite and Titan by Mack models in particular are expected to strongly appeal to CMI’s customer base.

“Representing Mack allows us to expand and strengthen our brand and market share in Alaska,” said Ken Gerondale, president of CMI. “Our customers know the Mack name and will gladly consider the Mack product when it’s time to make a new purchase. I also know that current Mack owners are very excited to have a local dealer that can help them with parts and service support.”

CMI was founded in 1985, with current sales and service business of $88 million. With a 43 percent market share in its segment as a Volvo Construction Equipment dealer, the company plans to leverage its reputation into the Mack side of the business as well.

“CMI has had great success as a Volvo construction equipment dealer and really knows the vocational market,” said John Thomas, Mack west region vice president. “Expanding to add the Mack product line is a natural fit for them and for us. CMI’s customer support and Mack equipment will be a powerful combination in the Alaskan market.”

CMI has expanded its service facilities in Fairbanks and Juneau to accommodate the demands of the new Mack product lines.

The first Mack trucks were introduced to CMI customers during its Customer Appreciation Day event late last year. Additional events will be held at each location to tout the Mack lineup.
