Applications are available for annual scholarships funded by the ConstructMyFuture.com Web site, an initiative that promotes construction as a rewarding career choice.
Deadline to apply for 2007 scholarships is February 5, 2007.
The ConstructMyFuture.com annual scholarship program is open to students and construction industry professionals, with the funds to be used for higher-education tuition or the purchase of tools to improve worker productivity. Three scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded.
ConstructMyFuture.com was launched in 2001 to provide information about the construction industry and its career opportunities to teenage students as well as their teachers, counselors and parents. It was developed by the Associated Equipment Distributors Foundation (AEDF), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
A special Web site feature is a database of more than 1,600 post-secondary construction-related education programs, organized by state and with Web site links to the schools. The Web site also presents information on additional industry scholarship opportunities, apprenticeships and other career-building programs, as well as links to allied industry resources and industry job boards.
A section targets teachers and counselors to help them connect to local companies and other resources they can use to explore industry opportunities with students. The Web site also helps parents understand the scope of the construction industry and its benefits.
A “cool stuff” section provides information on the world’s greatest construction projects, industry leaders and innovations and other industry facts and figures.
