When the 835H is done at the demolition site, it will head back to Structural Solutions’ yard, where it will go to work among hundreds of steel beams. Because Structural Solutions does all its maintenance in-house, ease of accessibility was important. So was user friendliness. The 835H delivered on both aspects, according to Shawn Yesko. Shawn Yesko (L) went to Jersey Rents saying that he was looking for a full-size loader. Rob Menonna (R) recommended LiuGong’s new Tier IV final 835H. The demolition debris was crushed on site and was turned into backfill material for houses the company is lifting in Seaside Heights and the Toms River area.

Shawn Yesko, owner of Structural Solutions of New Jersey, was first introduced to the LiuGong 835 two years ago. He liked what he saw, but without a definite need for the machine, the time wasn't right for the purchase.

In 2017, when he needed a full-sized loader, Yesko knew just who to turn to: Rob Mennona and Jersey Rents.

“We have been doing business with Jersey Rents for quite a few years now, [and] I feel that we have a really good relationship with them,” Yesko said. “They always take care of us and they are always there for us. I have never called Rob and asked for anything where he has said 'no.' No matter what we talk about, no matter what we are looking to do, no matter what we are looking to make happen, he was part of making it happen and the word 'no' never came out of his mouth.”

Yesko went to Jersey Rents saying that he was looking for a full-size loader. Menonna recommended LiuGong's new Tier IV final 835H.

“Rob told me, 'this is the one you want.' And, trusting him like a very good friend, I didn't do much research on the competition. I trusted him, I went with it and here we are.”

Because Structural Solutions does all its maintenance in-house, ease of accessibility was important. So was user friendliness. The 835H delivered on both aspects, according to Yesko.

“When I first met with Rob, he was going over the machine with me. In addition to it being easily accessible for our mechanics, it was very user friendly for the operator, user friendly for the mechanics and it definitely had features that we are excited about, specifically the all-wheel drive. The guys jumped in it and they all loved it. I had our operators go down and take a look at it before I pulled the trigger on it.”

From Disaster Comes Opportunity

Founded in March 2014 after Superstorm Sandy ravaged several New Jersey shore towns, including Seaside Heights, Structural Solutions offers turnkey house lifting services. Based in Toms River, N.J., the company offers a complete house-raising package, including architectural/engineering, electrical, plumbing, house raising, excavation, masonry and construction. It also offers assistance with obtaining permits, filing ICC Claims and applying for grants.

Approximately 50 employees are on payroll, and another 30 to 35 are subcontractors and contractors who are paid as business owners but work exclusively for Structural Solutions.

“All the services we provide … we don't subcontract out our work,” Yesko said. “We don't work for other contractors; we only work for the homeowners that we are contracting for. So, all the equipment and trucks that we have is all self-contained.”

Currently, that work includes the demolition of several buildings: a Travel Lodge Inn, a hardware store and some rental properties, including a duplex on an approximately 3-acre site in Seaside Heights, which is still rebuilding after Superstorm Sandy.

“We demoed all of the structures and we brought it down to grade for the next phase of construction.”

Upon completion, the Walters Group, a Barnegat, N.J.-based developer, will build a five-story, 55-plus condominium.

The demolition debris was crushed on site and was turned into backfill material for houses the company is lifting in Seaside Heights and the Toms River area.

Heavy Lifting

When the 835H is done at the demolition site, it will head back to Structural Solutions' yard, where it will go to work among hundreds of steel beams.

“We have a few hundred steel beams, anywhere from 10 feet to 50 to 60 feet, and some of them weigh 5,000, 6,000, 7,000, 8,000 pounds,” said Yesko. “We work [the LiuGong 835H] in the yard a lot.”

Structural Solutions also has a tractor with a couple trailers, loading steel beams, loading cribbing, which is 5,000 lbs. a pallet and water containers that are 320 gallons, which also are very heavy — 4,000, 5,000, 6,000 lbs.

“We use [the 835H] in the yard on a daily basis,” Yesko said. “It's working all day. We have a yard that is about three and one-half acres that accommodates about 60 pieces of equipment, trucks, trailers and so on.”
