CrewTracks, the company behind the field management software of the same name, has released a new feature that includes the ability to upload PDF documents for access and editing in the field. Safety forms, equipment inspections, blueprints and drawings are a few examples.

Documents can be marked as single-use, as in the case of a daily inspection form, or as multi-day, as in the case of drawings that require annotations and notes throughout the course of the job. Documents can be attached to a job, crew, date and/or piece of equipment.

Edits to documents sync with the office in real time, version control by date is automatic and further version control is managed via the mobile app. Existing CrewTracks users receive this expansion of functionality for free, and prospective CrewTracks users will likewise see no rise in the cost of CrewTracks, according to the company.

When discussing the lack of a price increase, Brett Fairbourn, vice president of marketing at CrewTracks, said, "Document management probably justifies it [a price increase], but we have a vision of where our software is headed, and document management is only part of it. We're constantly improving our features and releasing new ones — we don't want to nickel and dime people every time we release something."

Existing CrewTracks features remain in place: scheduling, time clock, GPS, time assignment to cost codes, materials tracking, equipment assignment, billable equipment hours reporting, jobsite notes and photos, custom reports, customer signature collection and data preparation for integration with accounting software.

CrewTracks serves construction companies in the United States, Canada and the UK, and boasts a 10x increase in customers since January 2018.
