Construction Equipment Guide

R.R. Dawson Bridge Co. has earned the statewide 2005 Construction Quality Award from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for its work on the Route 1 interchange in Fairfax County.

The VDOT Fairfax Residency also was recognized for project management.

The awards are given annually to recognize a project team whose work exemplifies the best in construction quality and management practices.

The Route 1 project plays a key role in the overall construction schedule for the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Corridor. Eleven major structures had to be built in 24 months by Dawson in order to allow major traffic switches to take place on adjoining contracts. Dawson completed its work ahead of schedule, allowing the adjoining projects to proceed as planned.

The award was presented in March during the 2006 Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance Spring Conference in Roanoke, VA.
