Delaware Contractors Association Awards Five College Scholarships

The Delaware Contractors Association (DCA) recently awarded five college scholarships to one 2007 high school graduate and four returning college students. These individuals were recognized at the June 2007 board of directors meeting at DCA.

The scholarships are available to all employees and their dependents of association members who are attending college and majoring in a construction industry related field of study. The selections were based on scholastic ability, financial need, character, leadership qualities, and personal interviews. Recipients can apply for additional awards each year during their college tenure as long as they remain in good academic standing.

The 2007 scholarship recipients:

Brandon Draper received a $1,000 scholarship and attends the University of Maryland where he will be a sophomore. His major is architecture and he currently has a 3.8 GPA. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Envirothon.

Jason Howard received a $1,000 scholarship and attends the University of Delaware where he will be a sophomore. His major is landscape architecture and he currently has a 2.6 GPA. Howard was a scholarship recipient in 2006.

Andrew Marenco received a $1,000 scholarship and attends Penn State University where he will be a sophomore. His major is business administration and he currently maintains a 3.73 GPA and is on the Deans List. He also is a member of the National Honor Society. Marenco was a scholarship recipient in 2006.

Jennalee Rufft received a $1,000 scholarship and will attend the University of Delaware as a freshman. She plans to major in environmental engineering. Jennalee graduated from Christiana High School with a 4.241 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the National FFA.

Bobby White received a $1,000 scholarship and attends Drexel University where he will be a sophomore. His major is DSMR and he currently has a 2.47 GPA.
