WILLIAMSBURG (AP) A Wisconsin developer expects to break ground as early as this summer on a $30-million resort near Williamsburg

The Great Wolf Lodge at the Route 199 interchange off Interstate 64 will enclose 380,000 sq. ft. and feature at least seven swimming pools, a dozen 400-ft. water slides, spas, a shopping area, two restaurants and a 5,000-sq.-ft. convention space.

The water attractions will be reserved for lodge guests’ use, but the restaurants and spas will be open to the public.

The lodge will offer 297 themed suites and is expected to employ about 300 people. Peak season rates will be about $249 to $389 per room per night. Construction is expected to take about a year from the time ground is broken.

Great Wolf Lodge is a project of Great Lakes Companies Inc. of Madison, WI, which operates hotels and lodges in seven states.
