With a little more than a month before its grand finale at ConExpo 2014 in Las Vegas, CaseConstruction Equipment’s “Dire States” infrastructure awareness tour showed no signs of losing steam as it rolled into San Antonio earlier this month.

More than 200 business leaders, government officials and university students turned out for author and infrastructure expert Dan McNichol’s presentation at the quarterly meeting of the San Antonio Mobility Coalition (SAMCo). They also came to see Mrs. Martin, the 1949 Hudson in which McNichol has logged more than 8,000 mi. since departing Boston in October.

As with other stops on the tour, McNichol focused on the “dire state” of U.S. infrastructure, from bridges and energy transmission to clean water and ports, and the need for citizens, business leaders, community groups and elected officials to work together to find new solutions for funding.

Case and its heavy equipment dealer ASCO Equipment also brought the tour to Texas Tech and the University of Houston while in Texas, where McNichol spoke to student groups and spent time touring local infrastructure projects. This phase of the Dire States tour will come to an end with an event at ConExpo on March 6 in the Case booth (11722).
