Dorothy Estelle Goldsmith Boniface, a lifetime Pine Bush, N.Y., area resident, died on Aug. 8, 2011, at the age of 87. The daughter of Kenneth and Estelle Plugfelder Goldsmith, she was born on March 9, 1924, in Philadelphia Pa.
She is survived by her beloved family: children, Edward (Ted) J. and wife, Barbara; Kenneth R. and wife, Veronica; Thomas A. and wife, Jean; Donna L. and husband, Jack Dopp; Steven H. and wife, Debbie; Holly A. and husband, Michael Bodnar; her 21 grandchildren and their spouses; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and good friends.
Mrs. Boniface was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward Boniface; brothers, Kenneth and Robert “Butch” Goldsmith; her sister, Iris Paige; great grandsons, Andrew Joseph Boniface and Ryan Hewitt and great-great-granddaughter, Alison McClure. She and her husband Edward founded Pine Bush Equipment Co. Inc., which has been run by four generations for more than 55 years.
Mrs. Boniface was a very active member in her community; she was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Pine Bush Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion. She helped found the Pine Bush Community Health Center and she fought against the pollution of the Plattekill.
A family statement reads: “She was dedicated to her family and created many special occasions for her family and friends, from Christmas parties to Easter egg hunts she always made wonderful memories. Dot was a woman ahead of her time; a great business woman and hard-worker. She taught her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren strong family and business values. Her most cherished times were spent entertaining her family and friends. We love you a bushel and a peck. You will be greatly missed.”
Funeral Services were at the Mountain View “Pine Bush” United Methodist Church located on Rte 302, Pine Bush on Aug. 15 with Pastor Robert B. Hewitt officiating.
