On Aug. 14, 2004, the owners of 11 John Deere dealerships in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Pennsylvania announced merger intentions to their employees.

The owners of Deer Creek Equipment, Jones Implement, Queen Anne Tractor, Stevenson Equipment, Tyndalls Inc. and W.N. Cooper and Son shared the news with their employees that an aggreement has been struck between the six organizations to merge their businesses. October is the scheduled time to complete the transaction. The new organization will share a new common name, Atlantic Tractor, when the merger is completed.

Each of the 11 locations will remain intact and all employees will continue employment with the new organization.

“The merger will combine six already strong organizations and make one that will be even stronger,” said an Atlantic Tractor spokesperson. “John Deere is recognized as the manufacturer of a reliable product line and has been very well received by competitive owners in recent years.

“Our goal is not only to offer a quality product line, but also to continue to offer an exceptional level of service to our customers within our trade area. When you combine these groups of experienced employees and allow them to work together to share combined resources such as parts and equipment inventories, expertise, specialized tools and common databases, there is tremendous value to our customers,” he explained.

“Our level of service will continue to rise to the next level. As we grow within an organization of this size, we will be assured that we will continue to attract high-quality new employees. All this adds up to a solid and very stable dealership for the future,” he said.

“I believe this merger will take us to a new level for the 21st century. The new combined organization will help John Deere maintain high-quality dealer representation in the 20 counties served by the new organization. It’s our goal to create a dealer network that both customers and employees are proud to be associated with.

“Customers will benefit from, among other things, larger parts and equipment inventories. Employees will benefit from more advancement opportunities, better training, and increased workplace and work-time flexibility. The bottom line: everyone involved benefits because of this merger,” he said.

Products marketed consist of tractors from 15 to 450 hp, harvesting equipment, material handling equipment as well as construction and excavating equipment.

All the dealership organizations are very diversified, having dedicated sales consultants and service technicians, as well as repair parts, for the complete line of John Deere lawn and garden tractors, push mowers, handheld trimmers, chain saws, utility vehicles including Gators and the newly introduced line of Deere ATVs.

Additional products include equipment such as backhoe units, compact utility tractors and all the right-sized attachments needed for big or small jobs. The Ready-to-Mow at home servicing of lawn and garden equipment will be expanded to all locations as another benefit of this merger.

Recently each of the 11 locations were rated as Gold Star Dealerships by Deere and Co., which is the highest rating attainable for John Deere dealers representing consumer and commercial products. These store locations also serve as a great place to shop for gifts and merchandise including toys, wearable, and various collectables for all ages.
