The future home of the 76ers, Flyers will be built on the former site of The Spectrum.
The first public renderings of the venue show the building's three stacked "bands," designed to be reminiscent of The Spectrum building, where the Flyers and Sixers played from 1967 to 1996.
Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, owner of the Sixers, and Comcast Spectacor, owner of the Flyers and Xfinity Mobile Arena, are 50-50 partners on the building, which is set to open spring 2030 in the South Philly Sports Complex, according to Sports Business Journal.
The arena is privately funded arena and total project cost had not been announced.
The focal point of the area will be it's "Rocky-inspired" entrance, featuring a wide stairway and multiple gathering areas, including a half-acre of plazas.
Harris Blitzer's real estate team, is running the project with Populous and Moody Nolan designing and a joint effort between Turner/AECOM Hunt building the arena, according to SBJ.
Comcast Spectacor is involved in developing the surrounding real estate in partnership with the Philadelphia Phillies. There are no available information regarding the mixed-use project or its design.
