Fletcher C. Wait Jr., Territory Manager of H.O. Penn. Dies

Fletcher C. Wait Jr., territory manager of H.O. Penn Machinery died on Tuesday, April 18 at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, at the age of 68.

He was a longtime resident of Kripplebush and formerly of Delmar, NY.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1938 in Syracuse, NY, to the late Fletcher and Frances Kimball Wait. He was a member of the Bethlehem Central High School Class of 1955 and attended St. Lawrence University.

Prior to his employment at H.O. Penn Machinery, Wait was a sales representative of Southworth-Milton.

He loved his work and had no immediate plans to retire until illness forced him to do so.

Wait was passionate about Army football, the performing arts, his home and his dogs, Jake and Oliver.

He was a parishioner of the Kripplebush United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.

Wait also was a member of the Marbletown Sportsmen’s Club and was active with the D&H Canal Historical Society and the Kripplebush Schoolhouse Museum.

He was a devoted friend, father, grandfather and brother.

Wait is survived by his children: Mark Wait and his wife Kelli of Macungie, PA; Greg Wait and his wife Barbra, of Raleigh, NC; Tracy Wait Dowd and her husband Joe, of Kingston; and Nancy Wait Amberge and her husband Kyle, of Bethel Park, PA.

He also is survived by his brother, Samuel Wait and his wife Beverly of Chesterfield, MO; and his sister, Elizabeth Ann Wait Essex and her husband David of Glenmont, and his grandchildren: Jennifer, Evan, Marley, Loren, Marshall, Katie, Emily, Maddy, Kit and Brett.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Delmar followed by internment at the Bethlehem Cemetery.
