Case recently has introduced the latest addition to its equipment line, the C series wheel loaders.

With all-new transmissions and a host of other improvements, the C series machines are designed for optimum reliability and durability on the job site.

The new C series machines include the 621C, 721C, 821C and 921C — which offer 96.9, 113.3, 138 and 184.9 kilowatts (130, 152, 185 and 248 hp) respectively. Both the 621C and 721C are available in extended-reach models (621C XR and 721C XR) and in tool-carrier configurations (621C XT and 721C XT).

“We took our customers’ comments and suggestions to heart and created one of the most productive lines of wheel loaders in the industry,” said Kevin Zimmer, Case associate marketing manager. “Whether working in road and bridge applications, residential construction, utility work or forestry, these new machines possess the increased durability and power to perform both effectively and efficiently.”

Zimmer added that numerous improvements to the operator’s environment, make the C series very comfortable to operate, as well.

Improved Reliability and Durability

Key to the reliability of all C series machines is the all-new proportional-shift transmission. Shifting between gears is now dependent on torque, not speed, allowing for a smoother transition of gears, which in turn results in increased productivity, as well as a longer transmission life. The improved auto-shift transmission also features a cold-start mechanism and a manual mode, enabling the operator to tailor the shifting to fit the job application.

Other improvements to the new C series wheel loaders include a closed-center, wide-angle steering system for more responsive turns and an improved brake pedal declutch for smoother starts and stops.

Along with these new improvements, several features also are available on the C series machines, including ride control for increased operator comfort and greater load retention, the Case return-to-dig and return-to-travel features and bucket height control — all of which help to speed cycle times.

“Case customers need machines that can keep up with the rigorous demands of their jobs,” Zimmer said. “With the new transmission, improved steering system and other modifications, we’ve made it easier for the operator to concentrate on the task at hand rather than the mechanics of the machine. This results in more productivity and, ultimately, increased reliability.”

Improvements to specific models include larger buckets for the 721C and 821C — 2.3 cubic meters (3 cu. yds.) and 3.1 cubic meters (4 cu. yds.) respectively. The 721C also features longer lift arms, offering a reach of 1 meter (3 ft. 5 in.), an improvement of 12.7 centimeters (5 in.) over the previous model.

Operator Comfort

Among the major features of the C series machines are improvements to the operator’s environment for increased comfort and convenience.

“Improvements to machine performance are valuable,” Zimmer said. “But improvements to the operator’s environment are also vital to overall productivity.”

Visibility is key when working at a job site. The C series cabs offer 3.9 square meters (42.5 sq. ft.) of glass for better visibility all around the machine. A slimmer steering column results in a better view of the bucket and more leg room in the cab. A narrow control tower, housing a centralized display of the operating controls, and additional space behind the seat help create a roomier cab.

The easy-to-read instrument panel consists of indicator lights, function switches and a digital display that monitors machine functions and alerts the operator should a malfunction occur. This enhanced diagnostic setup allows the operator more oversight of machine functions and can indicate a potential problem before it becomes serious.

The new C series models also feature improved air flow. The redesigned ventilation system allows air to move in a more direct path into the cab at a greater velocity. A refined air-filtration system is in place in the cab to clean the air and provide a healthy operator’s environment.

Each of the C series models also features a reduction in sound level, creating a quieter operating environment.

Other standard comfort and convenience features on Case C series machines include an electric/hydraulic parking brake, a door hold-open feature for easy entry to the cab, a fully adjustable seat, cup holder, adjustable front console, intermittent front wipers and a secured storage area to the left of the operator’s seat.

For additional comfort, an optional air-suspension seat and a cab sound system which includes AM/FM radio and cassette player, are available for all cab models.

Serviceability

In addition to enhancements to durability and performance, the C series wheel loaders also feature improvements to serviceability, including seven quick-disconnect couplers which provide easy access for testing of the hydraulic system and brake accumulators. Transmission filters and grease points are also easily accessible from ground level, as are the stacked pilot valves.

“To ensure optimum product support, Case also offers extended warranties for the engine, drivetrain and overall machine,” Zimmer said.

Attachment Versatility

A wide variety of attachments is readily available to fit the new C series machines, including a choice of hydraulic couplers and large-capacity buckets, material-handling buckets, pallet forks, augers, brooms and jib booms.

Like all other Case equipment, the C series wheel loaders are backed by Case total product support, including service, parts and standard and extended warranties. Flexible financing and leasing plans are also available from Case Credit.
