Hammond Farms Landscape Supply, located in Dimondale, Mich., was founded in the early 80s as a produce farm. Later, the company diversified its offerings to include topsoil and mulch. This sideline business continued to grow over the years into a successful landscape supply house that manufactures mulch, compost and soil. In addition, the company has secured grinding contracts for local municipalities.

“Selling high quality landscape materials is the key to our success,” said Cliff Walkington, general manager of Hammond Farms Landscape Supply. “I rely heavily on Don Lukas, our production supervisor, for his expertise in purchasing and quality control.”

The company uses a Diamond Z 4000 horizontal wood grinder, screening plants and other support equipment to produce its landscaping supplies, and recently added a Hammerhead tip manufactured by GrinderCrusherScreen Inc. to its operation.

“A year ago I was introduced to a new wood grinder tooth that has excellent wear properties. The tooth/tip I am referring to is the Hammerhead tip made by GrinderCrusherScreen Inc. I met representatives of the company at a tradeshow last year. I tested their tips, and I was shocked how long they lasted,” said Lukas.

According to Lukas, the new tip saves the company time and money, and he also is pleased with the service the company has provided.
