The Historical Construction Equipment Association (HCEA), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the construction, dredging and surface mining equipment industries, announced two recipients of its 2011 $1,000 engineering scholarship.

Erik F. Zirkle of Lebanon, Ohio, is enrolled at the University of Cincinnati, and Eric Salter of Jasonville, Ind., is enrolled at the Rose-Hullman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind.

The $1,000 engineering scholarships are funded by a grant of $75,000 by the Ruth St. John and John D. West Foundation of Manitowoc, Wis. Scholarships are awarded annually: one to a University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc engineering student, and the other(s) to an HCEA member or immediate family member to attend accredited college or university engineering programs in their home area. This is the first time in the four-year history of the scholarship that two awards have been made to HCEA members or family members.

Anyone interested in the scholarship can contact the HCEA office for details and an application. Donations to the fund, made either to the UW-Manitowoc Foundation or the HCEA, are being accepted. All donations will be evenly split between the UW-Manitowoc Foundation and the HCEA.
