Hendrick Construction Inc. is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a Charlotte-based general contractor with landmark projects throughout the Southeast.

The company’s projects include The Fillmore, The Saloon, The Comedy Zone, Osso Restaurant & Lounge and Mattie’s Diner at NC Music Factory in Charlotte. Hendrick Construction also worked with Carowinds to complete The Intimidator and Carolina Cobra, and the company upgraded and expanded exhibits at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro.

Other Hendrick Construction projects include Continental Tire’s North American headquarters in Indian Land, S.C.; the South Carolina National Guard’s aviation support facility in Greenville, S.C.; and RF Micro Devices’ semiconductor manufacturing space in Greensboro, N.C. Hendrick Construction built Stiefel Laboratories’ pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Research Triangle Park, N.C., and the University of South Carolina’s colon cancer research center.

The company has been active in the energy sector, building an expansion project for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee and a salt waste processing facility at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site near Aiken, S.C.

Hendrick Construction also built the first North American manufacturing facility for global furniture company Ekornes ASA in Morganton, N.C.

“I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished and the mark we’ve left on this region in our 10 years as a company,” said Hendrick Construction President Roger Hendrick. “We’ve diversified our project portfolio to remain successful through a recession, and we’re looking forward to continued growth and the next decade of exciting projects we’ll build.”

Hendrick Construction also built Mecklenburg County’s Valerie C. Woodard Office Center, the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Jail-North Annex, and new elementary, middle and high schools for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Hendrick Construction’s clients say they are happy with the quality of work performed, as well as the company’s professionalism throughout the construction experience. Charlotte chef Jim Noble said working with Hendrick Construction has been wonderful. Noble is the owner of two Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen locations and The King’s Kitchen, all of which were built by Hendrick.

“They are very organized and very timely,” Noble said. “They are also flexible and I had a lot of personal input on how the finished products have looked. They have been the best group I’ve ever worked with by far, and they would be the ones I’d choose for whatever else I do.”

Throughout its history, Hendrick Construction has completed numerous environmentally sustainable projects and built facilities that have earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s certification for Leadership in Engineering and Energy Design (LEED). Additionally, Hendrick Construction won several safety awards from Associated Builders and Contractors, as well as STAR recognition from the North Carolina Occupational Safety & Health Division, and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The company also has won the Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction Eagle Award, a peer-reviewed honor reserved for the best projects in the organization.

Hendrick founded the business in 2002, and it has grown to 33 employees, many of whom have been with the company since the beginning. The company’s contracts have brought in $250 million in revenue for the local economy.

Additionally, Hendrick regularly contributes to the community through donations to charitable organizations, such as American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Boys & Girls Club, Crisis Assistance Ministry and the Dale Earnhardt Foundation. Hendrick also supports The King’s Kitchen, Second Harvest Food Bank, School Tools, Victory Sports Outreach, March of Dimes, Alzheimer’s Association and athletic programs at Charlotte-area schools.
