Construction Equipment Guide

The relocated entrance ramp from 127th Street to the southbound Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in the Village of Alsip will open to traffic after the evening rush hour on May 1, 2001, weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced.

The construction of this new ramp is part of a larger two-year, $32.5-million project to improve the intersection of IL 50 (Cicero Avenue) at 127th Street and I-294. The project is funded by Governor George H. Ryan’s Illinois FIRST program and is designed to improve safety and reduce congestion in this heavily traveled area.

The new 127th Street entrance ramp to the southbound Tri-State Tollway is located further east from the existing ramp and is connected with a new signalized intersection. There will be no inconvenience for motorists as the new ramp will be opened at the same time the existing ramp is permanently closed.
