New Jersey heavy equipment dealers turned out in force March 1 to show their support for a potential Diesel/Equipment Technology program at Union Community College (UCC) in Cranford, N.J. Approximately 90 percent of the state's equipment dealers attended the event, which was intended as a discussion to gauge interest from local businesses in hiring graduates from such a program.

On March 23 the Garden State Bobcat Group (GSBG) hosted Demo Day 2012 at its facility located in Freehold, N.J. Weather for the day was perfect and nearly 80 customers attended to participate in live demonstrations for the array of products GSBG represents.

The Garden State Bobcat Group held its second annual Demo Day at its Freehold, N.J., location, March 19. The successful event drew nearly 70 people from the Tri-State area. Customers sat in the comfort of a heated tent while the latest equipment and attachments were exhibited.

On June 19, the Bobcat 50 Year Road Tour stopped in Freehold, N.J., at Garden State Bobcat. Garden State Bobcat also was celebrating 25 years in business. At the event there were many drawings, which included a chance to become an entrant to win one of two $50,000 Grand Prize Bobcat packages.

As part of the year-long 50th anniversary celebration of the Bobcat loader, a traveling historical exhibit is visiting 23 Bobcat dealers in the United States and Canada. The Bobcat 50 Years Unleashed North American Road Tour stopped at Garden State Bobcat on June 19.

Barry Sica became the new sales manager of Garden State Bobcat in Freehold, N.J., in December. Sica spent the past nine-and-a-half years working for JESCO, where he started in sales in southern New Jersey, was promoted to equipment manager and spent the last five of those years as branch manager for the Mount Holly, N.J., location.

Prior to establishing his own business, Bob Woods handled the Bobcat account as division manager for a major construction distributor in New Jersey for 13 years. With his strong background in sales and knowledge of the Bobcat line, he established his own dealership in Howell with his wife, Angela, in 1984.

The Garden State Bobcat Family of Dealerships has announced the promotion of Michael P. Schlessinger to the position of vice president of sales and rentals. Schlessinger started with the company September 2001 as its sales manager. He now directs a team of eight field salespeople with the inside support of six sales and rental coordinators.

Clinton Ave. in Trenton, NJ, which will serve the company’s customers in the Mercer county areaThe new 10,000-sq.-ft. building sits on 1.5 acres and is a full-service facility that provides sales, rentals, parts and service for a complete line of compact equipment including the new Bobcat telescopic tool carrier and the Bobcat Toolcat utility vehicle.

Garden State Bobcat unveiled a new full-service facility in Trenton, NJ, on Jan. 1. Situated on 1.5 acres, the 10,000 sq.-ft. facility, which is called “Bobcat of Trenton,” will provide parts, sales, service and rentals to customers in Mercer and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey.
