The Minnesota construction industry mourned the loss of Jeff Hanson, executive director of Minnesota Utility Contractors Association (MUCA), who died on Nov. 17, following a brief illness. He was 48.

Hanson worked at MUCA for 13 years and became its executive director in 1994.

He had been elected to the Minnesota state legislature, was chairman of the Transportation Safety Committee, served as a member of the Environmental and Natural Resources Committee, authored the Omnibus Bill for D.W.I. and co-authored the Builder’s License Act and the Groundwater Protection Act.

Hanson’s organizations included the Minnesota Midwest Society of Executive Directors and the Minnesota Legislative Society.

He is survived by his son Adam of Woodbury, parents Beverlee Ostenaa of Fosston and Orlis (Myrl) Hanson of Thief River Falls, special friends Jane Hanson of Woodbury, Robin and B.J. Brown of Woodbury, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends especially those of MUCA.

Interment at the Union Cemetery, Maplewood, MN, following a service at the Woodbury Lutheran Church.
