JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Truck Corporation company and a manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, announced Dec. 14 the introduction of the JLG G5-18A super compact telehandler for the construction, landscape and agricultural markets.

The G5-18A super compact telehandler combines operator comfort and machine maneuverability with lift capacity and reach to create a versatile and powerful compact telehandler. The G5-18A boasts a 5,500-lb. (2,500 kg) maximum lifting capacity and 1,850-lb. (840 kg) capacity at the fully extended reach of 11 ft. (3.3 m). The machine comes standard with three operator-selectable steering modes including 4-wheel circle, 4-wheel crab and 2-wheel steering. The 126-in. (320 cm) turning radius makes it a good choice for confined or congested work areas.

Brian Boeckman, JLG’s product parent for North American telehandlers, said, “We spent a great deal of time talking with construction, landscape and municipal professionals to ensure the G5-18A super compact telehandler was designed for top-of-the-line operator comfort. We also paid close attention to service needs by making the engine area easily accessible with standard maintenance intervals of 500 hours.”

Landscapers will find this compact model ideal for transporting pallets of sod, stone, and brick; for loading and unloading mulch; for transporting large nursery stock; and for a multitude of other tasks. The G5-18A’s 18-ft. (5.4 m) maximum boom height and more than 10 ft. (3 m) of reach allows the operator to access hard-to-reach areas such as over retaining walls and deep into enclosed trucks and flat beds. The compact dimensions of the machine, 146-in. (370 m) long by 71-in. (180 cm) wide by 77-in. (195 cm) high, make it a great choice in difficult to maneuver work sites such as parking garages and multistory construction. At a gross vehicle weight of less than 11,000 lbs. (49,000 kg), the G5-18A can be lifted by crane at most job sites for use on higher-level floors.

The G5-18A is offered with several available attachments including a general purpose bucket, a light material bucket, a grapple bucket, various carriages, a crane hook making it an ideal machine for jobs that previously required several different types of equipment. The G5-18A can even be configured to accommodate skid steer attachments.
