J.M. Wood Auction Company Inc. finished the year strong with another successful sale Dec. 4 and 5 at its headquarters in Montgomery, Ala.

Gross sales from the auction totaled more than $12 million and online sales contributed more than $2 million toward the overall total. Bidders from 34 states and 11 countries participated in the sale and 29 percent of the lots drew attention from online bidders.

Equipment from four regional Caterpillar dealers was on the auction block. In addition, Flint Equipment Company; the state of Alabama; B & G Rental (A division of Brasfield of Gorrie); Wilson Bros. Logging; and more than 300 other consignors were represented at the sale.

“Our 40th anniversary year has been our best year yet,” said Bryant Wood, vice president of J.M. Wood Auction Company Inc. “We feel mighty blessed to have such loyal buyers and sellers. We’ve seen a lot of old familiar faces around the auctions this year back buying and gearing up for projects. We can definitely feel the positive momentum starting to turn in this economy that has been down for so long. People have work and they are spending money.”

J.M. Wood Auction wrapped up its 40th year in business with more than $100 million in auction sales.

The 41st annual “March in Montgomery Auction,” will be the next auction held by J.M. Wood Auction, which is always the first auction after the Florida sales.
