J.M. Wood Auction Company celebrates 30 years of auction success and recently held its annual three-day Spring Sale at the company’s headquarters in Montgomery, AL, on March 6 to 8.

J.M. Wood is a full-service auction company that specializes in heavy construction, heavy-duty trucks, municipal, rental fleets, utility and forestry auctions.

One of the top auction companies in the country and the largest forestry auction company in the U.S., J.M. Wood was founded by Brenda and the late Malcolm Wood, who came from a family of cattlemen. The Woods started the business by conducting equipment sales as well as auctions of surplus machines for the state of Alabama. The principles that guided the company in its early years are the same today. Whether it be one or 100 pieces of equipment needing to be sold, each customer is equally important to the company.

Upon the passing of her husband Malcolm in 1990, Brenda Wood has continued the founding principle of doing business, and has continued the success and growth of the company.

According to Wood, “Everyone in the company does their job and does it well.” She further simplified her success in the auction industry by stating, “In this business, you have to do what you say your going to do.” Three of the Woods’ children, Bryant, Kim and Russ, also work in the family business.

J.M. Wood Auction holds four three-day sales in Montgomery, two sales at its Columbia, SC, location, and averages six to eight private sales in the southeast each year, with the Spring sale in Montgomery being the largest.
