Another terrific lineup of construction equipment, trucks, trailers and forestry equipment was showcased at JM Wood Auction's 46th annual summer sale from June 11 to 13 at their Montgomery, Ala., headquarters facility.

"This was one of our best June auctions in memory," said Bryant Wood. "Online bidding was very strong all three days."

Featured sellers included Alabama Power Company, Southern Company, Brasfield and Gorrie, Waites Construction, CraneWorks, Joe McGee Construction and more than 300 other dealers. A Cat 988H from Alabama Power Company garnered the most attention and was sold to a long-time customer from Illinois.

In all, the event brought in more than $40 million in total sales, including approximately $7.6 million from online bids. Sixty-four percent of the auction was affected by online bidding, through either the buyer or the back-up bidder. CEG

With another huge selection of Cat scrapers thundering across the ramp at this summer auction, the staff at JM Wood is becoming the “Kings” of scrapers.

Larry Todd of Todd Builders, Lexington, Ky., takes a few notes on some Cat D4K dozers he intends to bid on once he settles into the auction theatre.

Some boys from North Georgia who always have an interest in the old Cat iron at these sales (L-R) include Shawn Simpson, Greg Simpson and JR Wade of Simpsons Trucking & Grading, Gainesville, Ga.  

Industry professionals looking over some of the John Deere 700K dozers about to sell to the highest bidder are Jason Kirkland (L) of Kirkland’s Logging, Bryson City, N.C., and Mike Shuler of Mike Shuler Excavating, also based in Bryson City, N.C.  

Jason Miller (in cab) and his son, Dawson Miller, contractors/farmers based in McKenzie, Ala., give a Cat 322CL excavator a once over before consideration of bidding on it.  

This incredibly maintained 2005 Cat 988H with only 9,000 hours thundered across the ramp at a final price of $175,000.
