KBE Building Corp. Lands Contract for Portsmouth Clinic

A new medical and dental clinic is being constructed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. KBE Building Corp., Farmington, Conn., has been awarded the $30.2 million firm-fixed-price contract. Work will be performed in Kittery, Maine, and is expected to be completed by January 2021.

The project includes the construction of a new free-standing medical and dental clinic consisting of two occupied stories with a shared two-story waiting area. The facility will replace the existing clinic, and will encompass Medical Homeport, optometry, undersea medicine, dental, and mental health, as well as pharmacy, radiology, ancillaries, support and administrative space.

All site utilities, site preparation, site improvements, paving (parking and roadways) and access roads are included in the project.

Fiscal 2017 defense military construction, medical funds in the amount of $30.2 million are obligated on this award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website with two proposals received. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity.
