Komatsu Utility Corporation’s (KUC) expanded line of compact equipment includes a new class of compact dozers: the D21A-7 and the D21P-7.

These two models feature an operating weight from 3,951 to 4,182 kilograms (8,710 to 9,220 lbs.) that makes these machines easier to transport to a job site. The D21 compact dozers also include a rubber track option that adds a new dimension to the construction and landscape marketplace.

Additional features include: Komatsu’s Hydroshift transmission with single lever steering, pressure proportional control (PPC) joystick and six-way power-angle-tilt (PAT) blade also with a PPC joystick. The Hydroshift transmission with planetary gears is hydraulically controlled and force lubricated.

“The Hydroshift transmission offers the operator greater control and accuracy while grading and allows for easy speed changes with a simple twist of the control lever,” said Hank Yasuhara, director of product marketing for KUC.

The six-way PAT blade movement is controlled by a single PPC joystick. Pushing a button on the hydraulic control lever switches tilt to angle control and a PPC valve built into the steering circuit facilitates smooth, shockless steering control.

The D21 compact dozer series has been designed and manufactured specifically with the contractor in mind. The walk through operator’s compartment is ergonomically designed, allowing for easy on and off access. Maintenance of the dozer has been simplified by utilizing easy to use spin-on type filters and the air cleaner has an automatic evacuator which extends the cleaning interval. Finally, the D21 undercarriage features lifetime lubricated idlers, rollers and sealed and lubricated track drain which minimizes internal pin and bushing wear for longer service life.

The D21A-7 has an operating weight of 3,951 kilograms (8,710 lbs.), with 30 kilowatts (40 hp) and the low ground pressure D21P-7 has an operating weight of 4,182 kilograms (9,220 lbs.), with 30 kilowatts (40 hp).

“The D21 series compact dozers are in a class by themselves.” Yasuhara added, “These machines fill a definite need in the contractor and landscape marketplace.”
