Construction Equipment Guide

The SK1026-5 skid steer loader is designed to withstand the toughest applications without yielding engine power and performance. It is equipped with Komatsu’s Automatic Power Control (APC) and a standard two-speed transmission. Its features allow the operator to maximize productivity and uptime on the job site, according to the manufacturer.

The SK1026, with an operating weight of 8,068 lbs. (3,660 kg) is powered by Komatsu engine with a net power of 84 hp (62.6 kW). The turbocharged and water cooled direct fuel injection engine meets EPA emissions requirements and is fuel efficient without sacrificing power or efficiency.

At 48 in. (122 cm), the SK1026 has one of the longest wheel bases in its class, giving the operator a more stable ride when carrying heavy loads as well as reducing bucket spills and provides a better platform for operating high flow attachments, according to the manufacturer.

Special features of the SK1026 include:

• Extreme Power, No Stall-Outs

Available throughout Komatsu’s entire skid steer product line, APC allows the operator to work at full power during any phase of the job, from digging to loading and carrying without concern about engine stall-out. The SK1026 features a super flow hydraulic system that increases the available oil flow for attachments from 21 to 34 gpm (79 to 129 Lpm) enabling the SK1026 to power most attachments.

The SK1026 has an auxiliary hydraulic circuit with a maximum flow of 21 gpm.

• Vertical Lift Design

The SK1026 features a vertical lift loader arm design to keep the load steady throughout the lifting cycle and allows for maximum bucket reach at full dump height. This makes the machine practical for truck loading and the handling of palletized materials. It also improves stability in load and carry applications since the bucket remains close to the machine and moves in a vertical path.

• Transmission and Controls

Komatsu offers a standard, two-speed, shift-on-the-go transmission with a working speed of 6.5 mph (10.5 kmh) and a travel speed of 10 mph (16 kmh).

All instrumentation is located on the operator lap bar for easy viewing and all controls and switches are within easy reach of the operator. Komatsu’s Proportional Pressure Control (PPC) joystick levers are easy to use while providing precise and accurate control of the machine. The operators also have the choice of two control patterns, ISO and optional hand controls. Both control patterns are fully hydraulic, adjustment and maintenance free.

• Machine Strength Combined With Comfortable Cab Layout

The SK1026 features a rated operating capacity of 2,650 lbs. (1,202 kg), a tipping load of 5,300 lbs. (2,404 kg) and a bucket breakout force of 5,400 lbs. (2,500 kg).

The SK1026 offers optional, fully enclosed cabs with slide-up overhead front doors to feature an expansive entrance, 360-degree visibility, heating and air conditioning. Other options include ride control engine air pre-cleaner and a suspension seat for increased operator comfort.

Safety features include a backup alarm, horn, retractable seat belt and a seat switch and lap bar that automatically neutralizes machine operations when the operator moves off the seat or raises the bar.

• Ease of Maintenance, Serviceability

Komatsu’s attention to the placement and easy access of components ensures that service and maintenance will not be overlooked. Komatsu uses special bronze bushings and dust-seals which mean the greasing/lubrication of pins is required at 250-hour intervals while most competitors require daily greasing. A tilt-forward cab and engine cover provides easy access to all engine, driveline and hydraulic components and the everyday machine checks can all be accomplished by simply raising the lockable engine cover.
