John H. Mooncotch, age 90, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Iwo Jima WWII passed away March 7.
Judith A. Mooncotch, Mr. Mooncotch's wife, shares the history of LaGrange Crane Service Inc., Hodgkins, Ill., that the husband and wife team founded, on their company's Web site.
“My Husband, John H. Mooncotch Sr was an iron worker and project manager for several steel erection companies during his career. He traveled all across the United States working on bridges and buildings. In 1964, we established La Grange Steel Erectors. On days that we did not use our cranes for steel erection we rented them out for additional revenue. That is how La Grange Crane Rental came into existence. Over time, John and I decided to phase out the steel erection and focus on the crane rental industry. In 1981, La Grange Crane Service Inc. was founded.”
Mr. Mooncotch was a loving father of Mary Kay (late Randy) Musick, Diane (Steve) Fennessey, Brenda (late Dennis) Parzygnat, Julie (James) St. Clair, John H. (Wendy) Mooncotch Jr; Thomas (Elizabeth) Mooncotch, Lisa (Charles) Marik, John Paul (Mary Jo) Mooncotch, Freda Mooncotch and Judi (Toni) Mooncotch. Devoted grandfather of 24 and great-grandfather of 5. Dear brother of the late Thomas (Linda) Mooncotch, Betty Hickey and Bernice Wallace. Many nieces and nephews.
