To suit the needs of rental and construction customers, Atlas Copco has redesigned its low-pressure large compressors to fit in a newly designed mid-range compressor platform comprised of the XA(M,T,H,V)S 650-850 Caterpillar models. With their smaller size and weight, they are ideal for urban use where space constraints are a common issue.
In the redesign, Atlas Copco also has applied a new M-07 compressor screw element. Localization of production is expected in mid 2008.
To help customers save on their operating costs, Atlas Copco now applied more efficient compressor screw elements, such that this new model delivers the same compressed air output, but is now housed within a significantly smaller housing upon a single axle undercarriage.
This series of machines is for jobs that require a high volume of air, such as abrasive blasting, drilling, and pipe restoration.

The units are designed with features to make the operator’s job easier. All replacement parts are conveniently grouped and within easy reach so maintenance takes less time.
Atlas Copco has designed a reliable, high performance air compressor with a long lifetime, low operating costs, and high resale value, according to the manufacturer.
Housed in a silenced canopy, the new range complies with the latest OND sound pressure level requirements. The 6 cylinder in-line C7 ACERT T3 Caterpillar diesel engine is rated at 250 hp (186 kW) at 1,800 rpm, which complies with EPA exhaust emissions regulations for off-highway vehicles.
Total cost of ownership through lower fuel consumption and longer machine life are priorities for all machines. These compressors have increased fuel consumption, allowing the best fuel autonomy for complete working shifts.
The units are equipped as standard with a large fuel tank capacity of 73 gal. (276 L) and optional secondary 21 gal. (79.5 L) for a minimum full-load 10-hour shift supply.
Further savings can be realized with Atlas Copco’s FuelXpert option. This fuel saving system electronically regulates the engine speed and the air inlet valve to optimize fuel consumption.
The units are capable of operating in all ambient temperature conditions from minus 13 to plus 122 F (minus 25 to plus 50 C) and up to 10,000 ft. (3,048 m) plus altitude, with a duty cycle of 80 percent of the operating time at full load for a wide variety of applications.
Another feature available on this unit is COSMOS. Atlas Copco’s new electronic remote global management system allows customers to reduce their costs of ownership with a wealth of information on the compressor’s operation and service.
To provide real time communication and coverage, COSMOS uses the GPRS/CDMA network, which supplies accurate and up-to-date information. A satellite based version due to arrive in early 2008. The use of GPS ensures that equipment can be tracked at all times and at any location.
COSMOS enables Atlas Copco to offer its customers an even better aftermarket service. The new system is designed for global operation with complete support for all Atlas Copco systems.
A Wide Range of Options
The new models also feature separate air and engine intake filters and a safety cartridge for all air intake filters fitted as standard.
A large number of optional extras also are available to suit a wide range of applications including after cooler with water separator, fine filter or re-heater, road signalization, spark arrestor (U.S. Forest approved), refinery equipment, cold start equipment for temperatures below minus 15 F (minus 26 C) and many more.
