Dave Hunter and Jim Brannon have been appointed regional vice-president of the Mid-Atlantic region and director of human resources, respectively, of LB Smith, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volvo Construction Equipment. Hunter and Brannon will be based in the Charlotte, NC, headquarters of LB Smith. The announcement was made by G.W. “Bill” Cummins, president and CEO of the company, and the appointments were effective Sept. 8.

Hunter has been involved in the construction equipment industry for 28 years. He has held a variety of positions throughout his career, including sales, sales management and executive management.

His most recent position was as executive vice president of an equipment distributor in the Carolinas and Virginia. This experience will serve him well, because the Mid-Atlantic region of LB Smith covers a similar geographical area with operations located in Columbia, SC; Asheville, Charlotte, and Raleigh, all in North Carolina; Chesapeake, Richmond, Roanoke, and Wise, all in Virginia.

Hunter also is a past president of both the North Carolina and South Carolina local chapters of the Associated Equipment Distributors (AED).

Brannon also brings with him approximately 30 years of construction equipment industry experience. His career began in public accounting with Deloitte, but after a few years he decided to pursue his future in the equipment distribution business.

Brannon has been a CPA for more than 30 years and has a great deal of experience in distribution operations. He has held a variety of positions from accounting manager to controller with additional experience in the areas of insurance, payroll, employee medical benefits, 401K plans, taxes and corporate administration.

Brannon recently served as a vice president and chief financial officer of an equipment distributor in Charlotte.

LB Smith is the largest Volvo Construction Equipment dealer in North America with 31 branches located in 10 states. The addition of Hunter and Brannon to the company’s senior management team will provide significant expertise for the continuing growth of the company’s business.
