Chang Jiang is the longest river in China and the third longest in the world after the Nile and Amazon. After the river flows into Jiangsu Province, it becomes gentle and wide enough for large tonnage ships from the ocean to enter directly. The flourishing shipping transportation industry has bred a high demand for modern and efficient equipment to work at international ports terminals worldwide.
ChangHong International Port Company
Located in JiangYin, Jiangsu Province, ChangHong International Port Company is a large river transport and storage company for coal and bulk cargos. Due to its geographical advantages and flexible operation mechanisms, Jiangyin Port has become the largest and busiest river shipping terminal for coals in the region.
At Jiangyin Port’s Dock 2, LiuGong 856H wheel loaders are used to unload and stack the coal. The maneuverable wheel loaders are used to continuously shovel and lift coal, with the machines’ characteristics ensuring that each run is completed to the highest standard within minutes. After a decade’s cooperation, the company now uses 18 LiuGong wheel loaders in total.
“It is very busy at the port. Loading and unloading work normally continues throughout the whole day, so we have extremely strict standards in choosing our wheel loaders — they need to meet our requirements in terms of safety, power and efficiency. We have tested lots of wheel loaders, but LiuGong products have always proven to be more than satisfactory,” said Wu Yibin, the equipment manager of ChangHong International Port Company.
Why do I Trust “Made by LiuGong”?
“We got to know LiuGong in 2003, when the port’s international business started booming. The dramatic increase in merchandising cargo coming through our port meant that we needed to upgrade our equipment. Being the leading company in China CE industry, LiuGong’s brand reputation speaks for itself — making it the natural choice of manufacturer, Wu said.
“The first generation of LiuGong machines we specified performed excellently, working in conditions at the port that can be worse than construction fields or even mines. Our port is used mainly in the transportation of coal and bulk cargos, so the air is always filled with potentially harmful powders and dirt. What’s more, there is a lot of work that needs to be completed between piles of containers or even inside containers, but we are thankful that the LiuGong machines can always get the job done, no matter how extreme the working environment or however limited the space. The wheel loaders are powerful, efficient, and can continually work day in, day out in the toughest circumstances. By using LiuGong machines, we have increased our productivity whilst reducing our costs. Because of this, LiuGong 856H and 856G wheel loaders are used as our primary equipment at the port,” Wu explained.
The LiuGong 856H is a relatively new model — first introduced to the market in 2014 — but it has already served at the Jiangyin Port.
“The new 856H is powerful and very easy to operate. The cab is spacious and large reforested glass improves the all-round visibility. The application of pilot control and automatic shift make its operation smooth and comfortable, and the sound insulation and air conditioner system help us to focus during long, tough working days. The machine is exceptionally easy to maintain because we only need to stand on the ground to accomplish all the necessary checks and replacements. This is why the 856H has proven very popular amongst our team,” said one operator at the port.
“During our long cooperation, I have seen great potential in the LiuGong equipment,” added Wu. “Not only are the LiuGong machines of the highest quality and durable enough to work at this challenging work site, they are very easy to control and maintain. LiuGong also gives us convenient service and support — the parts turn-around is quick and customer service staff are always on standby to help solve any problems. All of the above have helped us to manage many machines at our port and we continue to make profit amongst the fierce competition thanks to our choosing of LiuGong.”
New Trends of the Port’s Transportation
“In recent years, with the continuous development of ports’ transportation, belt conveyors have in some ways replaced wheel loaders in many ports terminals. Therefore, new wheel loaders will need to be flexible, efficient and be able to bear heavier loads in the future. Of course, timely and convenient service is also indispensable. But because we have had a long and successful relationship with LiuGong and have already built trust and confidence in the brand, I believe that our cooperation will continue long in the future,” Wu said.
