Construction Equipment Guide

LiuGong Machinery Corp. has been building a solid reputation around the world as a full-line manufacturer, and now they’re taking it to the next level by adding to the top end of their popular crawler excavator line.

The company has introduced its new Model 945E excavator at Bauma 2013 in April. With its 45,500 kg operating weight, it’s the largest excavator in LiuGong’s growing 17-machine stable of track-mounted excavators. Featuring a 280 kW Cummins engine and a 2.2 m3 bucket, the 945E is ideal for high-production, high-volume applications in quarrying and heavy construction.

Contractors have come to expect extra power and productivity from LiuGong excavators – under some of the world’s most extreme conditions. According to company, with the 945E they can now expect even more.

More power, less fuel.

The turbo-charged, intercooled Tier II Cummins QSM11 engine works hard and long while minimizing operating and maintenance costs.

The engine has the power, torque and durability needed for tough conditions and demanding cycle times, where higher hydraulic flow, greater bucket digging force (the 945 offers 288 kN) and superior lift capacity are absolute requirements. And it runs extra lean, clean, cool and economically. Still, the machine is nimble, moving around the job site at 5.5 km per hour.

A higher level of intelligence.

The brain behind the machine is the advanced new LiuGong Intelligent Power Control System (IPC), which creates a new standard for control and efficiency. The system keeps the engine speed, pump speed and pressure in perfect balance, constantly making adjustments for the load and the conditions. This means more efficient hydraulic power delivery, faster response, smoother pivot turns and compound moves, lower operator fatigue and lower fuel consumption.

Matching machine function to the job.

With its multiple performance modes, the machine allows the operator to match machine output to the conditions. There are six different modes to choose from – power, , economy, fine, lifting, breaker, and attachment mode. Power boost is also available at the touch of a button – when extra power or breakout force is needed. Automatic idle is standard.

The 945E provides just the right amount of engine and hydraulic power when needed – no matter what job you’re doing at any given time – to keep power, control and fuel consumption in in perfect balance.

It’s all about conserving energy.

It starts with the energy-efficient Cummins engine. Then there’s IPC control system and energy-saving negative-flow hydraulics that combine to deliver just the right amount of flow – and fuel -- for any given function at any given time. The exclusive boom regeneration system makes for faster boom descent while reducing pressure loss and capturing and conserving the energy. Plus, the computer-controlled hydraulically-driven fan changes speed as the engine temperature changes for more efficient cooling and lower fuel consumption.

Easy daily maintenance.

Service points are simple, intuitive and accessible – including radiator, air and oil filters and fill ports and diesel oil box. All data and maintenance history is logged and retrievable and easily viewable on the new color LCD screen.

A more productive machine starts with a more productive operator.

The 945E operator station is designed and built for optimum comfort, simplicity and functionality. The reinforced transparent glass windshield delivers a superior view of the worksite. The short-throw controls are effortless and intuitive. The large-screen color monitor makes for quick, accurate, “at a glance” viewing of all the critical operating parameters an operator needs to see on the fly. The cab is fully ROPS certified (optional). Silicon filled fluid cab mounts isolate the operator’s cabin completely greatly reducing vibration to the seat, helping improve operator comfort and productivity after long days on the job.

Technology taken to the extreme.

At LiuGong, it isn’t about just developing the latest technologies. It’s about developing the latest technologies that work consistently, reliably, day in and day out, at the toughest, most extreme jobsites in construction and mining.

The company is totally dedicated to reliability – from engineering to testing to manufacturing. And the real test is always the real world, where real jobs have to get done.
