After spending all of his professional life working at his family’s asphalt paving company in Tampa, Fla., Jim Himes is excited about his latest venture.

Himes opened the doors to Town and Country Tractor in Albany, Ga., this year. It is the authorized Kubota dealer for the area.

Himes’ father started Home Paving Company and Himes said he was grateful for the opportunity to work in the family business. Now, with Town and Country, Himes is doing the same thing. His wife, Judy, is secretary/treasurer and his son, Jonathan, works in sales.

“It’s really going to be the future not just for me, but for my family,” he said.

The previous Kubota dealer in the Albany area left the business because of health reasons, so a territory was available — one Himes said was well taken care of by the dealer and was ripe with satisfied Kubota customers.

“What really excited me was the opportunity to sell such good equipment,” he said.

In its early years, Kubota specialized in compact tractors. But now, Himes said, the manufacturer is coming out with new machines every year.

Town and Country is located at 1115 Don Cutler Sr. Dr. near Highway 19/82. The dealership sells Land Pride implements and the Bush Hog line in addition to Kubota.
