The Metso board of directors has appointed Matti Kähkönen as the new president and chief executive officer of Metso Corporation and Metso Group. Kähkönen started his new position on March 1, 2011, taking over from Jorma Eloranta.
Kähkönen was previously president of Metso’s mining and construction technology segment and has a long career with the company. He has held various management positions in the automation as well as the mining and construction technology businesses, and has been a member of the Metso executive team since 2001.
“Matti and his team have overseen the successful transformation of the mining and construction technology segment’s way of operating,” said Jukka Viinanen, chairman of the Metso board of directors. “He is known for his open and straightforward management style, and I am certain that, under his leadership, Metso will continue its strategy of profitable growth.”
