He will be responsible for advanced engineering for the entire Americas region and reports directly to Americas Executive Vice President John Wheeler.

Lanning has more than 20 years of service with the Manitowoc Company and is a seasoned engineer and executive, having served in key engineering and senior management positions.

Lanning’s various roles have included project engineer, chief engineer, and director of engineering.

He assumed duties as the senior vice president of applications engineering for MCG in October 2000, before becoming director of customer support for Manitowoc Crane CARE in January 2005.

John Wheeler said he was very pleased to announce Lanning’s appointment.

“With such a thorough knowledge of engineering, and of the Manitowoc Company as a whole, we can expect to see good things from John,” he said. “It is great to have such an experienced and long-serving member of staff in this senior role. John has the ideal product knowledge and depth of experience necessary to take on this challenging position.”
