MDT Considers Plans for Highway 81

- West Edition #20
Montana Department of Transportation

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is considering plans to replace bridges over the Judith River, Warm Springs Creek and Irrigation Canal on Montana Highway 81 near Denton.

The purpose of the project is to replace the aging bridges located at Reference Posts 24.96, 32.42, and 34.05 with new structures designed to meet current standards and future anticipated needs of the traveling public. Replacement of these bridges will help maintain the effectiveness of the route as a transportation facility, reduce maintenance issues associated with the deteriorating condition of these structures and increase safety for the traveling public.

This project will be delivered using the Design-Build method and is scheduled for construction in 2020. Traffic will be maintained on the existing roadway alignment during construction.

An important part of properly planning for the future is partnering with the community. Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed bridge projects. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/mdt/comment_form.shtml or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Billings office at PO Box 20437, Billings, MT 59104-0437. Please note that comments are for project CN 9342001.
