Metso has signed an agreement to acquire Italbronze Ltda., a Brazilian manufacturer of high-quality bronze alloy components serving mining and other industrial customers globally.

The acquisition reinforces Metso's position as a leading crushing technology provider by securing a strategically important manufacturing capability and critical know-how for its crushing aftermarket business. Further, the transaction supports Metso's strategy to accelerate aftermarket growth while strengthening the availability and development of critical spare parts for customers worldwide. It also enhances supply chain resilience, supporting reliable deliveries and equipment uptime.

Located in the Greater Sao Paulo area, Italbronze was founded 67 years ago and has been a trusted Metso supplier for more than 30 years. The acquisition is a natural next step in the companies' long-standing collaboration and complements Metso's existing operations.

The acquisition improves Metso's control of a strategically important part of the aftermarket value chain and helps customers maintain reliable operations through enhanced supply security and availability of critical parts.

“This acquisition secures a critical manufacturing capability for our growing crushing business," said Heikki Metsala, president, services business area, Metso. "By combining Italbronze's decades of bronze alloy manufacturing expertise with Metso's global service and supply network, we can further enhance supply security and delivery performance for customers worldwide.”

Approximately 470 employees will join Metso upon closing of the transaction, bringing extensive expertise in bronze alloy manufacturing, machining and quality processes.

“This transaction provides continuity for our employees, customers and partners while creating new opportunities as part of a global industry leader, said Jaime Ortiz Jimenez, statutory director, Italbronze.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction value, and the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on Metso's financial performance. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
