MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) The Mississippi Department of Transportation said it has no money to extend the four-laning of state Highway 24 beyond East Fork — and that portion has been delayed.

The Enterprise-Journal reported that the original plans called for four lanes on Highway 24 from McComb to Liberty, Highway 48 from Liberty to Centreville and Highway 24 from Centreville to Woodville.

MDOT District Engineer Albert White said the McComb to East Fork section has been delayed from 2013 to 2015, and the rest is on hold indefinitely.

He said plans for a bypass on the north side of Liberty are likewise on hold, including the purchase of rights of way. White said when funds do become available, the bypass will be two lanes instead of four initially.
