In serious discussions about the dozers they are interested in (L-R) are Bryan Tomlin, Higdon Truck, Andrews, N.C.; Steve Jordan, Steve’s Stone & Contracting, Andrews, N.C.; and Mike Wells, Charles Wells Services, Ellijay, Ga. Local contractors Jeremy (L) and Larry McGhee, McGhee’s Clearing & Grading, Hogansville, Ga., are about to do a thorough inspection of a Cat 322CL excavator. Pre-planning some of his potential purchases, Alex Cano (L), ProDisposal, Beaufort, S.C., consults with Lant Dimler, OHL North America Transportation, Gainesville, Ga., on machine hauling logistics and pricing. Despite non-stop travel for heavy equipment auctioning, Jesus Ramirez (L), Gibbs & Sons Machinery, Gadsden, Ala., and Rob Udelson, PowerTrac, Miami, looked liked they were taking it all in stride and enjoying the sale. A steady flow of Cat 12H motor graders were stacked deep…two rows at a time flowing across the McClung-Logan’s Bruce Knapp made the trek from Baltimore and was spotted looking over a package of Grove RT’s in the sale line-up.

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers held a multi-million dollar auction in Atlanta on March 31.

The sale attracted more than 1,800 bidders from 41 countries, including 48 U.S. states and all ten Canadian provinces, who were registered to participate in the auction either on site or online. More than three-quarters (77 percent) of the equipment was sold to out-of-state buyers from as far away as the United Arab Emirates, Colombia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the Cayman Islands.

More than 1,600 equipment items and trucks were on the block, including hydraulic excavators, crawler tractors, loader backhoes, skid steer loaders, wheel loaders, cranes, truck tractors and more.
