A number of machines were sold at the Ritchie Bros. auction including 45 skid steers. The sale marks the 15th anniversary of the opening of the North East, Md., facility. This 1971 Cat D6C pipelayer sold for $8,000. This 1957 International R185A truck tractor sold for $13,500. Anthony Garman, owner of Superior Lift — a used forklift sales/service/rental company in Stevens, Pa., checks out the equipment. Thomas Busby, owner of Busby Crane and Busby Trucking, Ocean City, Md., plans to purchase equipment for his move back to Washington, D.C., where he previously worked. Darren Zimmerman, L&M Excavating, Lebanon, Pa., is ready for the auction.


More than 2,200 bidders participated online and in person at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers’s multi-million dollar unreserved public equipment auction in North East, Md., on Oct. 28.

Bidders came from 50 countries, including all 50 U.S. states. More than 81 percent of the equipment was sold to out-of-state buyers, from as far away as Belgium, Spain and New Zealand. Online bidders purchased 47 percent of the equipment sold (by dollar value).

In total, more than 1,750 equipment items were sold in the auction.
