Dave Smith, president of the Mount Group, Berlin, N.J., recently was inducted as president of the Utility and Transportation Contractors Association (UTCA). Smith’s induction as the chief elected officer of the association, occurred at UTCA’s annual convention which was held at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City Sept. 23 to 26.

Smith has served as a member of the UTCA board of directors for the last 10 years and has been active in construction since graduating from high school. Mount Group operates as a heavy highway construction company and includes divisions that deal with material crushing and supply in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.

Smith’s firm currently is performing work on approximately 20 contracts, while employing about 200 people on a regular basis.
