Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. announced the appointment of Jeff Oldham as president, effective Sept. 10, 2026. Oldham succeeds Bill Buckles, who recently retired after 33 years of leadership with the company.

One of the largest John Deere construction and forestry equipment dealerships in North America, Murphy Tractor employs approximately 900 people and operates 29 locations across Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Ohio.

In addition to representing John Deere construction and forestry equipment, the company serves customers with Wirtgen Group products and advanced positioning and machine control solutions from technology partners including Trimble and Topcon.

Through its Ozark Laser division, Murphy Tractor also serves customers across Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas with machine control, positioning and laser technology solutions.

Oldham brings more than three decades of leadership experience in the equipment industry, including expertise in dealership operations, sales, business development, strategic growth, and executive management. He began his career with Deere & Company, where he spent 15 years in a variety of sales and leadership roles. He has since held senior leadership positions with Ag-Power, Arrow Truck Sales/Volvo Group, GreenMark Equipment, and most recently served as chief executive officer of Groff Tractor & Equipment.

Throughout his career, Oldham has led multi-location organizations with a strong focus on customer relationships, employee development, operational excellence and long-term growth. His extensive knowledge of the John Deere dealer network and equipment industry positions him well to guide Murphy Tractor as the company continues to invest in its people, customers, technology solutions, and service capabilities.

“Jeff is an experienced and respected leader with a deep understanding of our industry and the importance of building strong relationships,” said David Murfin, chairman of Murfin Inc., the parent company of Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. “His values align closely with the culture that has guided Murphy Tractor for decades. We are excited to welcome Jeff to the organization and confident he will lead our team successfully into the future.”

Oldham said he was drawn to Murphy Tractor because of its reputation for customer service, employee commitment and long-standing industry relationships.

“Murphy Tractor has built an outstanding reputation by putting customers first and investing in great people,” said Oldham. “I am honored to join the organization and look forward to spending time with our employees, customers and business partners across the company. Together, we will build on the strong foundation that already exists and continue creating value for those we serve.”

Oldham succeeds Buckles, who retired after 33 years of leadership with Murphy Tractor. During his tenure as vice president of sales and later president, Buckles helped guide the company's continued growth, strengthen long-standing manufacturer and customer relationships and foster the values-driven culture that remains central to Murphy Tractor today.

“Bill's leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to our employees, customers and business partners helped shape Murphy Tractor into the company it is today,” said David Murfin, chairman of Murfin Inc. “For more than three decades, Bill has been an exceptional steward of our culture and values. We are grateful for his service and wish him and Pat all the best in retirement.”

As president, Oldham will oversee operations across Murphy Tractor's multi-state footprint and work closely with the company's leadership team to continue advancing its mission of delivering exceptional equipment, technology, parts, service and support to customers throughout the region.
