Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. Inc. has announced the appointment of long-time employees to new positions within the company.

Max Miller, vice president of used equipment, as well as branch manager, of the Gering, Neb., branch, has been re-positioned to work full-time as the vice president of used equipment. With Miller’s transition, Tom Murphy has stepped forward to fill the branch manager position.

Both begin their new roles with a wide array of experience at the company, and at the Gering, Neb., branch. Miller began as a salesman, at the Gering, Neb., branch, in 1980. He then moved to the branch manager position in 1994.

As the used equipment division developed in 1998, he also took on the additional role of managing the new department. “Due to the growth opportunity in coming years, Max was the best person I could think of to lead the used equipment department to the next level of performance,” said Tom Udland, president.

Tom Murphy has been with the Gering, Neb., branch of Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. Inc. for 15 years. He worked for five years as a territory sales manager, in the western Nebraska Panhandle.

Following his sales position, he transferred to various product support positions. Murphy said, “I am extremely honored to have been given the opportunity to follow Max’s outstanding leadership of the branch. I look forward to assisting the Gering location and its superb group of employees into new opportunities, while continuing the high level of service our customers receive today.”

“Extensive experience in both the service and equipment sales sides of the business will serve Tom well in his new role. I’m also confident his sharp mind, dedication and desire to succeed will help him prolong the excellent performance we’ve all learned and expect from the Gering branch,” said Matt McNett, region manager.
